Ariane Gleize

Biography

I'm a francophone artist. My practice explores the potential of nature through paper, plants, trees, and reclaimed botanical materials. Through weaving, knotting, twisting, and basketry, I transform these elements into fragile forms reminiscent of fabric.

I also draw from nature to create pigments, inks, and charcoal. My work is rooted in an eco-responsible and regenerative approach that produces no waste. It engages with artisanal practices that respond to community needs while transmitting knowledge and memory. Sometimes ephemeral, my works invite reflection on cycles of transformation, our relationship to the land, and forms of resistance to overconsumption, industrialization, and our growing disconnect from the natural world.

Through this approach, the plant world becomes both medium and textile language, questioning community, labor, and resistance. My practice invites the public into a sensory and poetic experience while celebrating manual labor, memory, and ecological responsibility.
