Biography
Liz Sweet Hammond is a Nova Scotia–based abstract artist whose work is deeply inspired by coastal light, salt air, and expansive skies. Living just outside of Lunenburg, she draws daily from the rhythm of the Atlantic Ocean, long shoreline walks, and the ever-changing horizon.
Working primarily in acrylic on large-scale canvas, Liz creates intuitive, layered pieces that evoke emotion rather than depict place. Her paintings explore movement, breath, and the subtle energy that exists between sea and sky. Through soft washes, bold gestures, and textured surfaces, she invites viewers into a moment of stillness and reflection.
With a background in acupuncture and massage therapy, Liz brings a strong awareness of the body and nervous system into her creative process. Her work is grounded yet expansive—balancing strength with softness, structure with surrender.
Each piece is an offering of atmosphere and feeling, designed to bring calm, depth, and connection into contemporary spaces.
Liz’s art lives in private collections and coastal homes, where it continues to echo the quiet power of the sea.
