LouAnn Ransom

Biography

LouAnn Ransom has always been drawn to the quiet magic of plants, petals, and the natural world. Raised in the fertile landscapes of southwestern Ontario, her love of flowers and nature took root early and has continued to bloom throughout her life.

After moving to Nova Scotia in 2021, LouAnn began deepening her practice as a cyanotype and alternative photo-process artist, inspired by the wild beauty of the South Shore. Using gathered flora and the transformative power of sunlight or UV light, she creates luminous works that capture nature’s fleeting elegance.

Working across paper, gelatin on glass, cyanotype and collodion processes, LouAnn embraces each medium as a new way to interpret the textures, shapes, and spirit of the botanical world. Her art is both homage and conversation—an invitation to see the poetry hidden in every leaf, stem, and blossom.
